A 22-YEAR-OLD woman from Ndlovu outside Victoria Falls Town has been arrested for murder after she allegedly beheaded her eight months old daughter with a knife before attempting suicide.

Louislon Siziba, of BH 28 under Chief Mvuthi is in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to appear in court charged with the murder of daughter Nomawethu Ncube.

Officer commanding police in Victoria Falls district, Chief Superintendent Jairos Chiwona, confirmed the incident but said investigations were still underway.

“We received a report about a female adult who murdered her child with her knife,” said Chiwona

“Preliminary investigations show that the woman could have been frustrated by lack of financial support and decided to kill the baby and attempted to commit suicide.”

Siziba is said to have committed the gruesome murder at her parents’ homestead in full view of an 11-year-old girl who rushed to inform others.

Family members said Siziba had a quarrel with the girl’s father, based in South Africa, who denied paternity and fled to the neighbouring country and has never returned home since then.

She reportedly had a fall out with her family when she fell pregnant while in Victoria Falls and was moved to the rural areas which compounded her woes as she felt neglected, neighbours said.
