ZANU PF has an “extraordinary record” of excellence in governance which no other party will surpass, spokesperson Simon Khaya-Moyo said Friday.

Khaya-Moyo said this in a statement in response to accusation from the opposition MDC-T that the government’s economic policies have failed to create the jobs and prosperity that it promised.

“There is no other party in Zimbabwe, and we do not mean this as an exaggeration, will be able to surpass Zanu PF’s extraordinary record in this lifetime (sic).

“The MDC attempted rather miserably to introduce a juice program which has since dried up and failed dismally to garner them the necessary support to be a party of government,” Khaya-Moyo said.

“It is this record of failure which makes it all the more disturbing when the same party hires ghost analysts to discredit the decent efforts of our government”.

The MDC-T launched its own economic blue-print a year before the 2013 general elections known as Juice (Jobs, Upliftment, Investment Capital and the Environment).

Juice was, according to the MDC-T, set to create 5 million jobs in five years if the party had been voted into power.

Zanu PF crafted the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (ZimAsset), a five year-plan that the party claims is set to create over 2 million jobs as well as turn the country’s economic fortunes around.

However opposition leaders including former Finance Minister Tendai Biti have poured scorn on the project describing it as the worst since Zimbabwe became independent 35 years ago.

Khaya-Moyo said the ruling party will not be distracted from its efforts to implement its policies.

Mugabe stands accused of running aground a once thriving economy that he inherited from the Rhodesian regime in 1980.

The veteran tyrant however blames the economic collapse on sanctions which were imposed by the West against his government in response to state terrorism and electoral fraud.
