Musician Devine Chitubura, who won this year’s edition of Zim Got Talent, is set to launch his six-track album on Thursday at Beer Engine. The album is a fusion of country, R’n’B and hip-hop genres.

In an interview, the 21-year-old musician said he was elated to have finally recorded his first album and thanked the Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe for the support.

“I am very happy that I am going to launch my first album this week and I would like to thank the Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe together with ZLG for coming up with the initiative,

“I have always wanted to record an album, but have been facing a mammoth task when it comes to finances but I am happy with the support that I have been receiving since I won.

“The album is a fusion of three genres because we want to bring a unique sound and it is also because I am good in country music while my partner Josh is good in R’n’B and hip-hop,” he said.

He said the talent search show had opened avenues for him since he has been called to perform at the Parliament of Zimbabwe.

“It is almost every musician’s dream to perform in front of the President and I feel greatly honoured to have been given the opportunity to perform in front of him and other senior Government officials,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe chairman Zivanai Zhau, who is going to be guest of honour at the event, said their main aim is to identify Zimbabwean talent and support it.

“We have discovered that Zimbabwe has got a lot of talent but the problem is young Zimbabweans who are talented are lacking support. Some are still at school, but are finding it difficult to pay their fees so we just want to help these people in making their dreams come true. This is not a one-off thing but we expect to keep on with the programme,” he said.
