A dream doesn’t become reality through magic but it takes sweat, determination and hard work.

If you have achieved success you don’t rest but continue to work so that the world will share your success.

United Kingdom-based Zimbabwean teenager artiste Rachel Chinouriri has signed a recording contract with a big recording and artist management company called Downtown Artists in the UK.

Downtown Artists are known for producing Peter Andre, David Bowie, Ringo Starr of the Beatles, The Specials, Depeche Mode, Bjoumlrk, PM Dawn and The Chemical Brothers among others who are internationally acclaimed.

However 15-year-old Rachel once sang in the background on live TV show for ‘Britain’s Got Talent finalist Gabby’ and to her that was the stepping stone for success.

Surprisingly, like any other teen who in this era are much into hip-hop raggareggae, dancehall, r’n’b or soul music genre, the lanky singer is much into indie, alternative rock and pop.

Rachel who is also affectionately known as Ayo or Chichi, said the contract covers, recording, production and management, with two singles to be released within next six months.

“I am already working on my first single which will be released anytime soon. I can’t give you the name of my song because the label is dealing with all that. It is a process and have just started recording. I am glad that I now have proper management and production, it is just my effort wanted,” she said.

The braided teenager was one of about 200 people invited to audition and they only wanted two artists to work with. Luckily she was one of the two selected to record her songs and be managed by them for the next two years. In an interview with CLS, the talented teenager said was happy that she got a recording contract deal.

She said it will go a long way in developing her career in music.

“Words cannot express my joy and how happy I am to be given the opportunity to make music. I have come a long way and no one knew about my music ability until a year ago when I moved school and gradually built the confidence to perform,” she said.

Rachel said her role model is Coldplay and is also a guitarist and pianist.

“My parents are my backbone of my music. They have helped and motivate me to be the best from better. I was in doubt but look at me now, I am a star. I love Coldplay group because it inspires me. Like I said I am into alternative rock and Coldplay’s lyrics are inspirational with their melodic rhythm from the guitar,” she said.

Currently she is studying her ordinary levels (GCSE) at Thomas More Catholic School. Rachel confessed that she is a shopaholic.

“I love shopping and sometimes I go to malls with my sister. I write my own songs after an inspiration,” she said.

She is the youngest of the five children from the Chinouriri family.

“Music is just like food prepare it well and you enjoy. Never give up on your dreams no matter what,” she aised other aspiring musicians.

Rachel is managed by her mother Melody Chinouriri.

Well good for these youngsters especially when a mother is the sidekick. Other prominent celebrities who are managed by their mothers include Justin Bieber, Jayden and Willow Smith, Romeo Beckham and King Tate.
