Organisers of the Zimbabwe Music Awards will this Thursday hand over trophies to the winners of ZIMA 2014 at Maestro restaurant in Chisipiti.

The event is going to be small, intimate and classy, the organisers say.

In an interview Zima Public Relations personnel Farai Chapoterera said they are happy to be finally handing over the gongs to the winner of last year’s edition.

“We are very excited to be handing over trophies to winners of the 2014 edition of the Zimbabwe music awards this Thursday. This is something that we had promised and are finally fulfilling our promise,” she said.

She added that they have decided to hold a small ceremony for the artists saying they deserve the best.

“Our musicians are very important to us so we decided to hand over the trophies to them in a special way, we want them to feel special because they are special to us,” she said.

Chapoterera said the issue of the trophies was making it difficult to plan for the next edition of the awards ceremony.

“With the 2014 chapter closing, we are now looking forward to unveiling the Zima 2015 theme and starting preparations for this year’s edition,” she said.

Commenting on the same issue, Zima founder and Chairman Joseph Nyadzayo said he is happy that the burden which was on his shoulders has been uplifted.

“Truly speaking I am the happiest man on earth right now, have been waiting for this day and finally is here, “We will be honouring our musicians as we had pledged and soon after that will start planning for this year’s edition and we are appealing to the corporate world to chip in and assist us as we honour the people that entertain us on a daily basis,” he said.

Organisers of the event failed to give the musicians the trophies on the day of the awards ceremony after CEP South Africa, the company Zima had engaged for the event, refused to hand them over on the day over some contractual issues.
