Zimbabwe’s super choral group – ZimPraise Choir, who are basking in the glory of their international success after clinching the International Gospel Artiste of the Year at the recently held Zimbabwe Achievers Awards in London – left yesterday for the United Kingdom where they are billed to stage two concerts.

The tour starts this weekend in Watford and then move to Leicester on May 24 before they return home on June 2. The 150-member choir will be touring the two cities with 23 members in preparation of their “World Tour” scheduled for August.

In an interview, Joseph Madziyire, who is the chief executive of ZimPraise said he was impressed that 2014 started on a high note.

“The year 2014 has proved to be a year with a difference for ZimPraise. We will be touring the world extensively and performing at prestigious events such as the Morris Cerrulo Mission to London.

“The success of this tour hinges not only on us entertaining our music fans but also transforming lives to open up those spiritual doors to celebrate and glorify God,” Madziyire said.

At 25, Madziyire is probably the youngest chief executive running a music group on a professional basis. This, has seen the ZimPraise brand growing in leaps and bounds and in the process winning a string of awards including the Organisational Philanthropy Award which they received from Philanthropy Institute of Zimbabwe in 2013.

About the latest award Madziyire said: “It is humbling to note that we have gained international appeal as well as recognition. This is our first musical accolade since inception. Being honoured in such a remarkable way is humbling and we owe our success to God. For ZimPraise, it’s all about Jesus and we thank our fans for their unwavering support, ” he said.

The choir was nominated alongside Zimbabwe’s gospel heavyweights in the likes of Mudiwa Hood and gospel songstress Shingisai Suluma, who is based in the United States.

Also accompanying the choir is the legendary Baba Mechanic Manyeruke. Baba Manyeruke is expected to serenade gospel lovers when he performs yesteryear classics that include “Moses Mugomo”,” Ndiani Achandiudza” and “Huyai Tinamate”.
