Keta: Togbi Hatsu III, 'Dufia of Dzita' in the Anloga district of the Volta Region, has urged journalists to be factual and engage in accurate reportage during the 2024 general election to safeguard the country's peace. He emphasized that precise reporting from polling and coalition centers during the election would reduce tension among the electorate. According to Ghana News Agency, Togbi Hatsu, who also serves as the Anloga District Director of the NCCE, made these remarks during a seminar for journalists and political party activists on best practices for reporting politically related stories. The seminar was held in Keta and aimed to educate the public on effective information dissemination. Togbi Hatsu cautioned political serial callers to be mindful of the information they broadcast to avoid creating tension. He appealed to journalists, especially those on radio, to control harmful narratives and maintain professionalism by verifying information before publication to prevent miscommunication that coul d trigger conflict. He also urged eligible voters to make informed choices and avoid accepting bribes. Togbi Goh II, a member of the Volta Regional Peace Council, echoed the importance of maintaining peace, stating that elections should not endanger lives but rather promote societal harmony. Mama Ketor IV, Vice Chairperson of the Keta-Anloga Inter-party Dialogue Committee, highlighted that the world would be closely watching Ghana during the 2024 election and encouraged citizens to uphold the democracy they have enjoyed over the years. Mr. Sarki Garba Hashimu, a Muslim leader in Keta, appealed to the youth and the public to avoid politicians who do not promote peace. He warned that any youth involved in violence would face severe consequences.
