Mr. Evans Akpah, Assemblyman for Adaklu Kodzobi Electoral Area in the Adaklu District Tuesday reminded the people that the District Assembly could not rely entirely only on the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF)to execute its developmental agenda. He therefore urged them to religiously pay their fees and levies to the Assembly to enable it to generate enough internal revenue to complement that from the DACF. Mr Akpah gave the reminder during one of his community engagements at Adaklu Kodzobi. He stated that the Assembly was able to collect only 49,000.00 Ghana Cedis representing about 10 per cent of its revenue target of 450,000.00 Ghana Cedis for 2024 at the end of the first quarter. The Assemblyman noted with concern that if the trend continued, 'the development projects earmarked by the Assembly for the district will be a mirage.' He said the Assembly has decentralized the collection of its revenue at the community level by engaging temporal revenue collectors in all communities in the district f or easy payment and collection. Mr. Akpah entreated chiefs, opinion leaders and Assemblymen in the various communities to assist the revenue collectors in maximizing revenue for the Assembly. He said he was collaborating with some NGOs to help empower the youth of the area to become economically independent. The Assemblyman advised the people to continue investing in their children's education saying, 'The greatest legacy you can bequeath your children is to see them through to the highest level of the academic ladder.' Togbe Dzegblade IV, Chief of the community noted that the Assembly needed revenue to survive adding 'The infant Assembly is like a baby that needs breastfeeding to grow.' He pledged his support for the Assembly in its revenue mobilization drive. The Chief urged the Assembly to enforce its bylaws in the district, especially the sanitation bylaw to help make communities in the district clean. Mr. Akpah used the opportunity to introduce Unit Committee members of the Electoral Area to the p eople. They are Mad. Agartha Agbogah, Mr. David Golo, Mad. Rejoice Atidoh, Mr. Charles Agblanya and Mr. Seth Letsu. Source: Ghana News Agency
