Akatsi: The Akatsi Artisans Association of Ghana (AAAG), a newly established group, has been inaugurated in Akatsi to foster youth employment in the region. The Association aims to unify artisans from various specialties, promoting growth and equipping them with essential vocational skills. According to Ghana News Agency, Master Atsu Tumaku, Chairperson of the Association, emphasized during the inauguration ceremony that the organization would contribute to the area's development agenda. He stated, "We have apprentices and master craftsmen as an Association. It is our aim to train the youth with skills and techniques in order to mitigate the rising issues of youth unemployment." Mr. David Agbavitor, Principal of Akatsi Technical Institute, urged artisans to enhance their skills by incorporating theoretical lessons. He highlighted the importance of vocational and technical education in community and national development. Mr. Mathias Agbalenyo, Akatsi chapter Chairperson of the Ghana National Association of Garment Makers, praised the Association's leadership for their efforts and called for unity within the group to expand its fortunes. Mr. Emmanuel Agbaxode, Chairperson of the Ghana Journalists Association for Volta and Oti, encouraged the new executives to serve with dignity and humility. The event saw the graduation of 12 young men from their apprenticeship courses, who received certificates and start-up kits. Mr. Mawuli Ocloo Egos, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Akatsi South, donated cash and promised tools for the new graduates. Mr. Daniel Dagba, NDC Secretary for Akatsi South, presented GHS 2000.00 to the group, expressing the party's support for vocational skills development. Notable attendees included politicians from the two main political parties, Assembly members, craftsmen, staff from the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited, and Mr. Ebenezer Asare, Ambassador for 'Sun Kablo' Electricals. The group currently consists of over 55 members and 35 apprentices in fields such as Electricals and Maso nry.
