The Sunday Mail Bridal Expo ended Saturday with organisers of the showcase describing it as a big success.

The exhibition, the second such event since their introduction last year, is a one-stop-shop for all those planning their wedding.

Aptly named after its organisers, ZimPapers’ Sunday Mail weekly paper, this year’s show drew over 65 exhibitors who were showcasing wedding gowns, suits, utensils, cars and portable toilets, all for hire during weddings.

The two-day expo was expected to end with the crowning of the Bride of The Year late last night, with a musical show featuring popular artists Sulumani Chimbetu and Jah Prayzah having been expected to provide the proverbial icing on the cake.

The Bridal competition also sees the recognition of the photographer who would have taken pictures of the eventual winner and the baker who would have baked the winning cake.

The awarding of prizes to the winners is a culmination of months of competition by contestants, something that has seen readers also contributing towards picking the winner.

Event organisers have described the exhibitions as a huge success.

“All expos held in Zimbabwe are somewhat elitist,” event spokesperson Charity Gwata Chirume said in an interview with NewZimbabwe.com.

“They are expensive and they are located wrongly. In our case, just because of the ZimAsset, we think of indigenisation. That is why we charge very little to afford a chance to everyone wishing to display.

“The Expo was a dig success this year.”
