Tunis: Former member of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) Board Zaki Rahmouni was sentenced to 16 months in prison in two cases brought against him by the current ISIE Board. Rahmouni told TAP over the phone the first case had been initiated following a complaint filed on August 19, 2022, over statements he made to a private radio station. Rahmouni was handed a sentence of 8 months in prison in this first case for harm to others and false allegations. Rahmouni said the second case dates back to December 2, 2022, when the ISIE lodged a complaint against him and two others, including Sami Ben Slama - a former ISIE Board member. The Tunis Court of First Instance took up this case on September 20, 2023, under Decree-Law 54, he added. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
