TAMALE: Reporters, stringers, interns, and National Service Personnel at the Tamale office of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) have undergone a day's training to enhance their skills in reporting on the upcoming general election. The training aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and understanding of the dynamics across constituencies in the Northern, North East, and Savannah Regions. According to Ghana News Agency, the training was organized by the Management of GNA and facilitated by Mr. Eric Amoh, Northern Regional Manager of GNA. He emphasized the importance of professionalism in delivering accurate information to the public. Reporters were instructed to focus on details such as the number of voters, total votes cast, and other critical aspects to ensure balanced election reporting. Mr. Amoh also highlighted the importance of personal safety, particularly in hotspot areas, and advised reporters to remain vigilant and secure while covering the elections. Mr. Amoh advised reporters against decla ring election winners, emphasizing that such responsibilities lie with mandated institutions. He encouraged them to gather information diligently and build rapport with polling station officials to ensure timely access to election data. Additionally, Mr. Albert Futukpor, Editor at the GNA Tamale office, provided an overview of elections coverage, urging participants to familiarize themselves with all candidates to enhance their reporting. The 2024 general election is set for December 7, covering a total of 31 constituencies in the Northern, North East, and Savannah Regions under the jurisdiction of the Tamale office of the GNA.
