The Independent High Authority for Elections (French : ISIE) is fully prepared to implement the calendar for local elections set for next December 24, said Spokesperson Mohamed Tlili Mansri.
It will also seek to secure increased efficiency through higher voter turnout rates.
These elections will take place in small constituencies in Imadas, Mansri Friday told reporters on the sidelines of a press conference held by the election commission. This calls for increased efforts to raise public awareness.
An action which rests on direct communication is required. It will be launched early next week. Over 3,500 staff members were hired to come in direct contact with the population and provide necessary clarifications.
To fight dirty money in these elections, Mnasri said, the ISIE held a series of meetings with all actors, mainly the Central Bank of Tunisia, customs and the Tunisian Post. A number of agreements were signed under which the commission is entitled to timely access to information. Professional secrecy cannot be used as an argument in this process.
"A chamber specialised in electoral crimes, mainly foreign funding, was put in place," the spokesperon said.
