Hohoe: Mrs. Lordina Mahama, wife of Mr. John Dramani Mahama, Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has commissioned a newly built health centre at Hohoe Adabraka in the Volta Region to enhance healthcare delivery. The state-of-the-art facility was financed by the Lordina Foundation, which also renovated the existing structure and equipped the maternity ward with new equipment. The health centre is now equipped with consulting rooms, a store, wards, washrooms, and a laboratory. According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Mahama stated that while there was an initial request to provide health equipment to the existing facility, the Foundation opted to construct a new centre to expand healthcare access and benefit the entire community. She emphasized that every citizen deserved quality healthcare, regardless of their location. The facility, she noted, would not only serve as a place of healing but also a symbol of hope, empowerment, and Mr. Mahama's dedication to the people of Hohoe. Mrs. Mahama highl ighted the commitment of the next Mahama administration to improve healthcare delivery with the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy and other programs aimed at enhancing living standards. She urged the constituents to support Mr. Mahama's presidential bid and elect Mr. Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo as the next Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency to further these initiatives. Mr. Tsekpo, the NDC parliamentary candidate, praised the transformation brought about by the facility, attributing its realization to the support from Mrs. Mahama and the Lordina Foundation. He pledged to further upgrade the health centre to a municipal state if elected and encouraged voters to back both him and Mr. Mahama for the development of the constituency. Pastor Kwame Boateng-Sarpong, a member of the Lordina Foundation Board, reiterated the Foundation's commitment to improving the lives of individuals, especially in underserved communities, through better healthcare, education, and overall well-being. He stressed the impo rtance of healthcare as a shared responsibility and urged the community to maintain the facility for future generations. Mr. Charles Azagba, the Hohoe Municipal Director of Health Services, expressed optimism about the impact of the facility, noting that it arrived at a crucial time to alleviate pressure on the Regional Hospital. He highlighted the facility's potential to address infrastructure and equipment shortages and enhance the capabilities of health workers. Mr. Azagba reported that the centre had one of the highest Out-Patient Department (OPD) attendances in the area, with monthly figures of 600 for OPD, 300 for antenatal care, and 30 deliveries. He encouraged the community to make full use of the facility to achieve its intended purpose. Togbe Kromponi IV of Gbi Kpeme-Daklovi lauded Mrs. Mahama, her spouse, and the Foundation for their contributions, recognizing the centre's role in addressing the healthcare needs of the people.
