Juaso: Former President John Dramani Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged a significant initiative aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs in Ghana. During a campaign stop in Juaso, Asante-Akim South Constituency, Mahama introduced the 'Adwumawura' policy, designed to provide financial backing to 10,000 youth annually, enabling them to launch their own businesses. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the NDC to address the pressing issue of youth unemployment in the country. According to Ghana News Agency, Mahama emphasized that the NDC has the most effective plan to combat rising unemployment rates among the youth. In his address to a large gathering of party supporters, he assured that the funding would be available to young people across the nation, including those in Asante-Akim South. He underscored the importance of empowering the youth to become entrepreneurs and contribute significantly to Ghana's economy. Mahama criticized the current government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, accusing it of causing severe hardships for Ghanaians and questioning its right to seek re-election. He argued that a government unable to protect the livelihoods of its citizens after eight years in office should not remain in power. He urged Ghanaians to make a decisive choice in the upcoming elections to oust the current administration and restore the country to a path of progress and prosperity. Highlighting the economic challenges faced by citizens, Mahama referenced the depreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi against the US Dollar, lamenting that the promises of a stable economy had not been fulfilled. He called on the electorate in the Ashanti region to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the ruling party, asserting that their loyalty had not been reciprocated with tangible development. Mahama pointed out that many infrastructural projects in the Ashanti region were initiated during NDC administrations, advocating for a return to power to resume these develo pments. Supporting his call for change, Maame Sarfoah Appiah, the NDC's Parliamentary Candidate, criticized the incumbent MP for failing to improve the constituency's living conditions over the past 12 years. She urged voters to support the NDC's vision for a development-focused and people-oriented government, promising significant economic progress.
