The Appeal Chamber of the Financial Judicial Division decided, on Wednesday, to release journalist and Director General of private radio station "Mosaïque FM", Noureddine Boutar from jail on a TND 1-milion bond and banned him from travelling. Boutar was arrested on February 13, 2023," after police raided and searched his home without revealing to his family the real reason for his arrest,' according to what was reported at the time. The examining magistrate of the financial judicial division had issued a detention order against Boutar on February 21, according to his lawyer Ayoub Ghedams. Following this arrest, several trade unions, associations and organisations expressed their solidarity with the director of Mosaïque FM in statements and indignation published to this effect, through which they denounced 'a violation of press freedom and the incursion into the editorial line of the media.' TAP has tried in vain to contact a member of Noureddine Boutar's defence lawyers group to find out more details about the events surrounding this court decision.
