Kumasi: Orion Healthcare, a private health facility aiming to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of community members, has begun operations in Kumasi. The facility, with a 30-bed capacity, includes an intensive care unit, pediatric unit, maternity unit, gynecological unit, male and female wards, state-of-the-art surgery areas, and a well-stocked pharmacy, among others. According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Darius Osei, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Health, emphasized the importance of private facilities in complementing the healthcare needs of the country during the official commissioning of the facility. He noted that the new center would alleviate the burden on the largest Ashanti Regional referral facility, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Dr. Osei highlighted the opportunities presented by the National Health Insurance Scheme, encouraging Orion Healthcare to enhance service delivery equity, making healthcare accessible to both the rich and the poor. Dr. Osei further stressed the importance of the fac ility's geographical accessibility and advised the new establishment to demonstrate operational efficiency. He emphasized the need to focus on all elements of healthcare, including registration, appointment scheduling, data management, laboratory management, and drug management, to ensure value for money. Mr. Ernest Kusi Ababio, Executive Chairman of Orion Healthcare, expressed commitment to building a healthier community through regular checkups, life-saving surgeries, and emergency care. He highlighted that healthcare is not solely about advanced technology and modern facilities but also about compassion, care, and commitment to the dignity of every person. Mr. Ababio pledged ongoing investments in training, technology, and patient-centered care, ensuring that the facility remains at the forefront of healthcare excellence for years to come.
