LUANDA-- The Tourism, Trade and Investment Agency of South Africa's Western Cape Province, Wesgro, is seeking to develop partnerships and bolster trade ties with Angola's tourism sector, says its executive director, Tim Harris.

Addressing a media conference here Tuesday to introduce its promotional campaign entitled, "A vida tem outro sabor em Cape Town" (Life has another flavour in Cape Town), he stressed that Wesgro recognized the importance of the Angolan market for the development of partnerships, since Angolan citizens often travel to South Africa for business and tourism.

According to Harris, Wesgro is working in partnership with South Africa Tourism (SATourism) to run several educational sessions for Angolan tour operators and the South African tourism industry to develop tourist experiences in identified categories.

However, he added that the current campaign is aimed at promoting "Cape Town" as a preferred tourist destination, highlighting Western Cape province's premium wines as well as tourist, gastronomic and shopping options.

The campaign, which will be held in Luanda on Sept 27, will count on the participation of five Angolan chefs, who will prepare five different meals combined with five South African wines.
