The Junior Queens on Wednesday tasted their first defeat at the ongoing Africa Youth Netball Championship in Botswana with a 52-23 defeat by Zimbabwe.

The Under 21 side was beaming with confidence before the game after they won against Lesotho 81-21 in their opening encounter before another 49-30 victory against Namibia.

However, on Wednesday's encounter, the Junior Queens were suffocated in all the four quarters, as Zimbabwe led 10-6 before increasing the tally to 25-12 and 36-16.

Wednesday's defeat means that the Junior Queens have to win in today's (Thursday) match against South Africa if they want to finish in top three and qualify for the 2017 World Youth Netball Championship.

The Junior Queens, who are led by Mary Waya as their coach have also to win against Uganda on Friday and Zambia on Saturday.
