Kwame Baah: The young music entrepreneur making great strides with innovative platforms

Music business in Ghana continue to make steady progress, and Bismark Kwame Baah is one of the few young music entrepreneurs helping artistes benefit from their music.

He recently created the 'Get the Artistes Platform,' which is Ghana's first online artiste booking platform for event organisers in the entertainment industry.

According to Kwame Baah, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Yve Digital, a music aggregation platform, his love for music started at a young age, and he gained recognition as a musician in Kumasi before making the move to Accra in 2018.

'My dream initially was to be a musician, but as time went on, I felt I could do something else related to music. So I decided to venture into distributing and publishing music.

'I have worked with the likes of Fameye, DBlack, Okyeame Kwame, Epixode, Amerado, Yaw TOG, Wendy Shay, Sista Afia, and many other musicians in the area of music distribution, and we have made great strides,' he said in an interview.

Kwame Baah further revealed that the Yve Digital platform has helped many of these artistes to boost their presence on various streaming platforms, racking up impressive numbers.

He stated that Yve Digital, since its establishment, has racked up more than 300 million streams for various artistes signed onto the platforms, and he was poised to reach a billion streams in the next few years.

Kwame Baah, who is a former student of the University of Education, Winneba, previously worked with one of Ghana's finest production houses, Farmhouse Productions.

CITET-ANETI: call for applications for selecting and training eco-entrepreneurs in certain regions

The International Centre for Environmental Technologies of Tunis (CITET) and the National Agency for Employment and Independent Work (ANETI) are launching a call for applications for the selection and training of eco-entrepreneurs based in different regions of the country, according to a CITET press release.

This call for applications is open to individuals and groups residing in the regions of Siliana, Tozeur, Kebili and Kerkennah who meet the conditions required or even innovation, the ability to create added value, the development of an idea for creating a green business ...

This training programme is part of the activities of the project "Support to the creation of sustainable and circular enterprises in the regions of Tunisia", implemented by the International Environmental Technology Centre of Tunis - CITET and MedWaves - The UNEP/MAP Regional Activity Centre for SCP (former SCP/RAC), financed by the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation - ACCD.

The training programme aims to work in a practical way on the green business idea proposed by the selected eco-entrepreneurs. The eco-entrepreneurs will acquire through the training the knowledge and tools necessary to transform their innovative idea into a green business models by improving their sustainability.

The training will take place face-to-face in the regions of Siliana, Tozeur, Kebili and Kerkennah during the first half of June 2023. The training session will be conducted over five days for green business models (entrepreneurs develop their green business models throughout this training).

Interior Ministry reveals identity of killed security officers in Ghriba attack

The Interior Ministry unveiled in a statement issued Thursday, the identity of the security officers killed during the attack perpetrated Tuesday night near the El Ghriba synagogue in Djerba.

They are:

*Colonel Major Maher Arbi, 54 years old, national security force.

*Chief Warrant Officer Khaïreddine Lafi, 31 years old, National Sea Guard.

*Police officer Mohamed Abdelmajid Atig, 31 years old, National Counter-Terrorism Squad (He succumbed to his injuries in hospital).

The ministry offers deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

In addition to the perpetrator, who was shot by the security forces, the attack claimed the lives of two "visitors" of Tunisian and French nationality.

Six parliamentary blocs announced

Six parliamentary groups were formed, Speaker of the Assembly of People's Representatives (French: ARP) Ibrahim Bouderbala said Thursday at a plenary.

The biggest is the Voice of the Republic party's with 25 MPs. It is headed by MP Amel Meddeb with fellow MP Hamadi Ghilani as vice-president.

The Independent National Bloc is made up of 21 deputies; it is chaired by Imed Ouled Jibril with Aymen Ben Salah as vice-president.

Honesty and work, chaired by MP Fakhri Abdelkhalek, brings together 20 deputies. Its vice-president is Nour El Houda Sbati.

The Honest group is the fourth parliamentary bloc with 19 deputies. It is led by Sabeur Masmoudi; MP Youssef Toumi is its vice-president.

A fifteen-member bloc, the People Triumphs, is the fifth group. Its president and vide-president are Ali Zaghdoud and Lotfi Sadaoui, respectively.

The six group is made up of 15 deputies representing the Unified Democratic Patriots Party (PPDU/ Mongi Rahoui) and the People's party (Echab). It is chaired by Youssef Tarchoun (PPDU) with Abderrazek Aouidet (Echab) as vice-president.

A futher 39 deputies are independent.

WWF North Africa: integrated water management at heart of Strategic Plan

Integrated water resources management and the restoration of forest ecosystems are among the priorities of the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan of the Tunis-based World Wild Life Fund (North Africa) presented Thursday at a regional workshop held in Tunis.

Focus was mainly placed on the sustainable integrated management of the main freshwater ecosystems and their watersheds. The goal is to promote the development of more climate-resistant ecosystems and help ensure public well-being and alternative livelihoods for populations.

Support of actions to secure drinking water and ecosystem water requirements will be at the centre of efforts, said WWF North Africa Director Jamel Jrijer.

"We will seek to ensure integrated water management while taking into account the changing needs of humans, ecosystems and species," he added.

Zero deforestation is the ultimate goal by 2030 along with the restoration of 1 million hectares of degraded forest ecosystems in the region.

Action will likewise target restored and climate-resilient marine and coastal ecosystems by 2030 to provide habitat for many flagship marine species,and support the economy .

"We target around 45 million dinars in funding for the next 5 years, "the official further told TAP. Part of this funding is already available and we are endeavouring to mobilise the rest."

"We will seek to implement our strategic plan by involving local populations and with the support of local and foreign partners," he added.

The workshop was attended by Environment Minister Leila Chikhaoui, Regional Director of WWF Europe and North Africa country offices Ajay Barai as well as representatives of the European Union delegation to Tunisia and the UN Development Coordination Office. This in addition to representatives of the French Development Agency (AFD), the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the the international union for the conservation of nature (IUCN), WWF France and other national, regional and international agencies and organisations.
