Henda Ben Alaya appointed CEO of National Radio Corporation

Henda Ben Alaya Ghribi has been appointed as new CEO of the Tunisian National Radio Corporation, under Decree No. 2023-434, published in the Official Gazette No. 58.

She takes over from Sofiene Ben Issa, who has been relieved of duties, under Decree No. 2023-433, published in the same issue of the Official Gazette.

President Saied reiterates Tunisia’s rejection of interference in its affairs

President Kais Saied reiterated at a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, Friday, Tunisia's commitment to its sovereignty and the constants of its foreign policy, the most important of which is its rejection of interference in internal affairs.

The meeting focused on the minister's recent visit to France.

Saied was quoted in a Presidency statement as saying Tunisia, «which refuses to interfere in the affairs of other countries, refuses in return that anyone interferes in its internal affairs that stem from the will of its people.»

He stressed that Tunisia has a much richer history in rights and freedoms than many other countries.

President Saied recalled that the Tunisian people, who rose up and revolted for freedom and national dignity, will never accept going backwards.

"Tunisia is able to give rather than receive lessons from any side whatsoever," he pointed out.

Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar made a working visit to France on May 30-31, at the invitation of his counterpart Catherine Colonna.

Justice: launch of eSignature project

Minister of Justice, Leila Jeffel, on Friday, launched the electronic signature project that fits into the 2023-2025 sectoral development plan for the justice and penitentiary system.

The use of eSignature is now authorised in all courts and administrations under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice.

According to a press release from the Ministry, Jeffel ordered that the electronic signature be included in the 'jShare' digital platform, which is used to facilitate the exchange of documents between the courts and partners in the judiciary.

She added that this project will make it possible to sign documents online in a secure and legal manner, and to move towards a digital justice system that meets the needs of the judiciary.

This project is part of the Programme to Support Justice Reform (PARJ).

President Saied meets Interior Minister and senior security officials

President Kais Saied met Minister of the Interior, Kamel Feki, Director General of National Security, Mourad Saidane and Commander of the National Guard, General Hassine Gharbi, at the Carthage Palace on Friday.

The meeting focused on the general situation in the country, according to a statement from the Presidency.

In this context, the Head of State stressed the need to "face all challenges in order to protect the homeland and the state".

He also emphasised the need to "preserve civil peace" and "bar the way to all those who seek to undermine it through speculation or provoked crises".

President Saïed also pointed out that enforcing the law in no way means restricting the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution and the law.

In this context, he said instigating crises, speculation, offences against moral integrity and reputation and chaos can in no way come from freedoms, "these are practices that are incriminated by the law".

Drug eradication,irregular migration and preparations to ensure the security of national exams were also on the agenda of this meeting, according to the same statement.

Italian PM to make official visit to Tunisia next week

President Kais Saied, on Friday, had a phone call with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, focusing on bilateral relations and the strategic partnership between Tunisia and the European Union.

They discussed the initiative launched by President Saied to hold a high-level conference between the countries concerned by the migration issue, said a Presidency statement.

The initiative concern, in particular, North African countries, those of the Sahel and Sahara and countries of the northern shore of the Mediterranean. The aim is to tackle the causes of irregular migration and identify appropriate ways of putting an end to the resulting humanitarian crisis.

The Presidency also said in the statement the Italian Prime Minister has accepted the invitation of President Saied to make an official visit to Tunisia next week.
