Information centre and virtual laboratories now available to students and researchers at AAEA in Tunis

An information centre and virtual laboratories are now available to students and researchers at the seat of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency (AAEA) in Tunis, under a partnership agreement signed between the agency and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia.

The centre and virtual laboratories will help Arab students, researchers, engineers and scientists to carry out advanced scientific experiments and draw on the experience of researchers at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research without having to travel," said Director-General of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency Salem Hamdi in a statement to TAP.

He also pointed out that the partnership agreement between the Agency and the Russian Institute includes several protocols, notably the awarding of five annual research grants by the Russian side to Arab researchers in six different fields of nuclear science.

He recalled that the Arab Atomic Energy Agency in Tunis had announced the opening of applications for the award of these five grants to Arab researchers until May 15.

"72 applications were received but no Tunisian researcher applied," he added.

The Arab Atomic Energy Agency is a specialised scientific organisation working under the umbrella of the League of Arab States.

It deals with nuclear science and its application in the peaceful field, while seeking to develop joint Arab scientific cooperation and follow global scientific and technological advances in this field.
