IHF Men’s U21 World Championship- Group B – Day 2: Tunisia lose to Germany 31-46

Tunisia's U21 handball team lost to Germany's 31-46 (first half: 13-21) at a 24th IHF Men's U21 World Championship 1st round Group B day-1 game played Wednesday in Hanover. Tunisia, who had defeated Algeria 27-22 at day 1 on Tuesday, will take on Libya on Friday. The 24th Men's Junior (U21) World Championship is being co-hosted by Germany and Greece from June 20 to July 2.

Sousse: two killed in train derailment [Upd 1]

A driver and one passenger died on Tuesday night in a train derailment in Msaken, Sousse. Thirty-four other passengers sustained injuries, said Communications Director and spokesperson of the Tunisian National Railways Company (French: SNCFT) Hassen Miaadi. The injured were to taken to the hospitals of Msaken, Sahloul and Farhat Hachad, Miaadi Wednesday told TAP correspondent in Sousse. They are in a stable condition. Six among the injured are still hospitalised in Farhat Hachad and Sahloul facilities. Three buses operated by transport company Société de transport du Sahel (STS) were made available to carry passengers bound for Gabès, El Jem and Sfax. Investigations are underway to identify the causes of the accident.

Kebili: Towards completion of projects at Bechelli-El Blidet-Jersine municipality

During a visit to the Bechelli-El Blidet-Jarssine municipality in Kebili, a delegation from the Swiss Foundation for Development Cooperation undertook to carry out a feasibility study for three projects. Secretary-General of the municipality, Abdelkader Tlili, said these projects are part of the pilot initiative for integrated local development, a programme funded by the European Union. In a statement to TAP news agency on Wednesday, he pointed out that the projects involve the creation of a unit to recycle oasis waste, the construction of an open-air theatre in El Blidet and waste water treatment project in the villages of El Blidet, Jersine and Beni Mohamed. The "Pilot initiative for integrated local development" programme aims to carry out projects designed by the El Faouar and Bechelli-El Blidet-Jersine municipalities in Kébili with the support of the Swiss Foundation.

Sfax hosts 2nd edition of Forsa Street

The second edition of Forsa Street, the career and economic guidance event, is held on June 21-22. The event is an opportunity for young people to discover economic and working opportunities and avoid resorting to illegal migration. It is also designed to raise awareness about the dangers of this phenomenon. This event offers young people useful information and counselling on such sectors as education, vocational training and employment as well as in relation to entrepreneurship. The event is being held in the shape of an interactive labyrinth providing services and possible opportunities for a better guidance of young Tunisians. Meetings with advisors and experts are scheduled. Organisers of this event include the German Agency for International Cooperation, the German embassy in Tunisia, the International Organisation for Migration, the European Union and the National Agency for Employment and self-Employment . The first edition of Forsa Street was organised in Kairouan ( May 26-27) and Tunis (June 9-10).

Government committed to improving integration of people with disabilities into job market (Minister)

Minister of Social Affairs Malek Zahi stressed the government's commitment to strengthening the integration and employability of people with disabilities in both the public and private sectors. The minister was speaking at the opening of the first edition of the Employment Fair for People with Disabilities, held at the International Centre for the Promotion of Disabled Persons in Gammarth. He said that his ministry had decided to allocate 30% of the economic empowerment programme's expenses to people with disabilities to encourage them to start their own projects. Zahi stressed that people with disabilities will be given priority in employment, specifying that 2% of annual public sector recruitment will be reserved for people with disabilities. The minister announced that the reforms to be introduced in this sector will be based on the inclusion of people with disabilities as full citizens and partners in building the social state, the sole guarantor of rights and freedoms.
