Asante akropong: A 25-year-old butcher has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Asante Akropong Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District for defiling an 11-year-old girl at Amanfrom. Kwadwo Asiwe admitted to the charges and was convicted based on his own plea.

According to Ghana News Agency, Police Detective Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu, who prosecuted the case, informed the court presided over by Mrs. Gloria Mensah Bonsu that the victim, a primary six student, lived with her grandmother in Amanfrom. In the first week of October 2025, the girl visited her aunt, Firdaus Yeboah, in Kumasi-Kentinkrono. Yeboah noticed the girl walking unusually and decided to investigate further.

Upon examining the girl’s private parts, Yeboah observed significant changes inconsistent with her young age, prompting her to question the victim. During the interview, the victim revealed that Asiwe had forcibly had sex with her in their room at Amanfrom.

Following the revelation, a report was made to the Bohyen police, leading to the arrest of Asiwe. In his caution statement, the convict admitted to the crime.
