Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed his support for the deal with Hamas to end the Gaza war, and heaped praise on US President Donald Trump on Monday, during a special sitting of the Knesset, the Israeli parliament.

According to Ghana News Agency, Netanyahu spoke about the US-brokered deal with Hamas to end the two-year war in Gaza, emphasizing his commitment to peace. He stated that Israel’s adversaries now recognize that attacking Israel on October 7 was a significant error.

Netanyahu attributed the success of the peace efforts to Trump’s strong support for Israel, asserting that ‘peace through strength’ was essential. He announced his intention to award Trump the Israel Prize, marking the first time a non-Israeli would receive this honor.

The Knesset session took place shortly after the release of the last Israeli hostages from Gaza, facilitated by the US peace agreement.
