Kasoa: The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested Samuel Amoah, the man allegedly behind the gruesome murder of a lady and her children at Kasoa, a year ago. Amoah was apprehended at Suhum in the Eastern Region of Ghana on September 17, 2025.
According to Ghana News Agency, during a media briefing in Accra, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of CID, revealed that Amoah confessed to committing the crime and expressed regret over his actions. COP Donkor mentioned that the police would soon arraign Amoah before court for the murder of the victims, emphasizing that the police were handling the matter with ‘urgency and professionalism to ensure justice for the victims.’
On May 19, 2025, the Ghana Police Service received a report about a violent incident at Tuba Net-Link Estate, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region. Upon arrival at the scene, the police discovered a 39-year-old woman, identified as Alberta Hagan, along with her three children, lying in a pool of blood in their room.
COP Donkor stated that upon inspection, police found one of the victims alive, though suffering from multiple deep cuts on his head and bleeding from his ear. Additionally, a five-month-old baby was discovered alive on a sofa in the hall. The injured child was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the deceased were taken to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Investigations revealed that Amoah had been living with the victims and was in a relationship with Alberta Hagan. COP Donkor explained that their relationship had deteriorated due to financial disputes, which led to the suspect attacking Alberta and two of her children who witnessed the incident. After committing the crime, Amoah fled the scene and went into hiding. However, after months of sustained intelligence operations, he was eventually captured.
A postmortem examination confirmed that the victims died from ‘severe head injuries caused by assault,’ according to COP Donkor. The police remain committed to ensuring justice is served for the victims.
