Accra: The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Caucus has announced its intention to introduce a motion in Parliament seeking a comprehensive inquiry into the dismissal of 100 employees from the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

According to Ghana News Agency, the Minority, led by Madam Abdul Aziz Fatahiya, Member of Parliament for Savelugu, is determined to challenge the dismissals. Addressing the Parliamentary Press Corps in Accra, Madam Fatahiya emphasized the commitment to reverse the terminations and demand accountability from the government.

The dismissals were reportedly initiated by a directive from the Chief of Staff in a letter dated February 11, 2025, which aimed to revoke appointments made in the public sector after the December 7, 2024 elections. The Minority Caucus contends that this action extends beyond the affected workers, impacting the core principles of the Republic.

The Minority argues that the government's decision violates the Constitution of Ghana, labor laws, and the fundamental rights of the workers. They stress the importance of adhering to legal frameworks and ensuring worker protection.

Madam Fatahiya underscored the Minority's unwavering commitment to the rule of law and justice, vowing to utilize all available legal, parliamentary, and democratic measures to secure the reinstatement of the dismissed workers. She affirmed the Minority's dedication to reminding institutions of their responsibility to serve the people of Ghana.

The Minority also reassured the dismissed workers of their support, promising relentless efforts to restore their employment, dignity, and future security. They urged for the defense of democracy and accountability in the face of such challenges.
