Lawra: Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN Ghana) has donated GH?20,000.00 and assorted items to the 2025 Kobine Festival Planning Committee to support this year’s celebration of the annual cultural event of the Lawra Traditional Area. The company also supported side activities in the run-up to the climax of the festival, including the football gala, where the winning teams received prizes such as cash and souvenirs.

According to Ghana News Agency, in addition to the cash donation, MTN Ghana provided airtime worth GH?1,000.00 and hampers to the festival committee. The Mobile Telecommunication Network had also mounted service stands at the Kobine festival grounds to offer services such as SIM card registration and replacement, and MTN mobile application downloads to the public.

Mr Collins Agyei, the Area Sales Manager of MTN Ghana in charge of the Northern Zone, stated that MTN’s support to the festival celebration was part of its commitment to promoting the cultural heritage of the people. He noted that M
TN has consistently supported the Kobine Festival over the years, contributing GH?20,000.00 and other packages to enhance the event.

Mr Agyei also mentioned MTN’s other interventions through the MTN Foundation, including the ‘Girls-in-ICT’ programme and the establishment of ICT laboratories. He encouraged MTN subscribers to participate in the ongoing ‘MoMo App Promotion,’ which rewards customers for transactions on the Mobile Money application above GH?100.00. The promotion offers daily, weekly, and monthly cash prizes, with rewards ranging from GH?100.00 to GH?5,000.00, and platinum rewards for high-value transactions.

He also urged customers to download and use both the MTN Momo and MyMTN App for services such as airtime purchases, bundle subscriptions, bill payments, and stock market investments.

Naa Ngmenmaal Yobo III, the Divisional Chief of Kunyukuo and Chairman of the Planning Committee, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for its continued support of the Kobine Festival. He acknowledged the support as
a crucial contribution to sustaining the cultural heritage of the Lawra Traditional Area.

The Kobine Festival is celebrated annually by the Chiefs and people of the Lawra Traditional Area to showcase the culture, traditions, values, and unity of the area, attracting thousands from the Upper West Region and beyond, including Burkina Faso.
