Accra: The SIC Ladies Association (SICLA) has announced a series of initiatives to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed globally in October, aims to encourage screening and diminish the disease’s impact, which affects 2.3 million women worldwide.
According to Ghana News Agency, SICLA, an association of female employees of SIC Insurance PLC, will offer free breast screenings at SIC’s Bob Freeman Clinic throughout October, excluding Sundays. The initiative, themed ‘Catch it Early; Treat it; Survive it!’, seeks to identify early signs of breast cancer. The statement, released by SICLA, emphasized the importance of early detection in saving lives and alleviating the burden on patients and their families.
The President of SICLA, Madam Muriel Ashong, highlighted the significance of the screenings and urged women to participate in the exercise at the clinic, located near SIC’s Head Office in Osu, Accra. Additionally, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, SICLA will hold a Pinky Breeze Health Walk starting at 07:30 hours from Nyemitei House Head Office. This event aims to further raise awareness and will conclude at Laboma Beach in Accra, where breast screenings will continue until 1500 hours.
