Tema: The SOS Children’s Villages in Ghana, in collaboration with DHL Express Ghana, has successfully organized the 2025 GoTeach Employability and Entrepreneurial Skills Boot Camp in Tema. This initiative brought together 60 young individuals, equally split between females and males, from SOS Children’s Villages Ghana locations in Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi, and Tamale. The boot camp was themed ‘Empowering Young People with Employability and Entrepreneurial Skills for Evolving Work Environments.’

According to Ghana News Agency, the GoTeach Boot Camp is a leading youth development initiative aimed at equipping young people with essential employability and entrepreneurial skills to navigate today’s changing work environment. The event featured interactive training sessions, mentorship, resume writing workshops, and a career fair, all facilitated by professionals and partner organizations associated with SOS.

The boot camp focused on a variety of key areas, including career development, leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, time management, environmental sustainability, and life skills. Mr. Godknows Kporha, the SOS National Youth Development Advisor for Ghana, highlighted in an interview that the youth empowerment camp is part of several programs designed to make young individuals self-reliant.

Mr. Kporha explained that the camp provides a platform for participants to become self-dependent, acquiring skills in employability, entrepreneurship, leadership, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health education, all crucial for their future. The program is divided into three phases: the first targets junior high school students, focusing on life skills and career orientation; the second caters to senior high school students, emphasizing career planning and development; and the third, ‘GoTeach,’ is for tertiary students, providing them with employability and entrepreneurial skills to transition from school to work.

Mr. Kporha emphasized the importance of equipping youth to prevent them from becoming part of the unemployment statistics, noting the collaboration with DHL and support from organizations like Amali Tech, Africa ICT Right Learning Organisation, and Future Careers since 2012.

Mrs. Josephine Aryeetey, the GoTeach Ambassador for Ghana, stated that DHL Express is committed to connecting people and improving lives through their services and community involvement. She underscored the alignment of SOS’s mission with DHL’s goals, noting the importance of preparing young people for an evolving work environment.

Participants expressed their gratitude and excitement, acknowledging the valuable skills gained, which they believe will prepare them for future challenges.
