Sousse: Launch of preparation of draft tourism code (Minister)

Tunis: Minister of Tourism, Mohamed Moez Belhassine, announced on Saturday the launch of the Tourism Code project, stressing the importance of reviewing the sector's legal framework in light of the practical problems posed by the current texts. Speaking at the opening of the ordinary general assembly of the Tunisian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies in Sousse on Saturday, the minister said his ministry was working to create an appropriate legal framework for the implementation of tourist accommodation projects in line with the pillars of sustainable tourism. For Belhassine, this new framework will contribute to the development of investments and projects in this field, in parallel with the revision of the investment law and its orientation towards equitable and sustainable regional development. The project to revise the classification system for hotel units has reached the final stage before publication, in parallel with the creation of a working group chaired by the Ministry of Finance and compri sing representatives of the Ministries of Tourism, Justice, the Economy and Planning, as well as the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), to examine the files relating to the indebtedness of hotel establishments, he added. He also said that his department was working on a strategic vision for the future of the sector. Belhassine stressed that this strategy was being developed through a participatory approach involving the various stakeholders in the public and private sectors, as well as civil society, with the aim of developing diversified and sustainable tourism in the long term and enhancing the country's status as a competitive tourist destination. CEPEX: Business mission to Russia, June 13 and 14

Tunis: A business mission dedicated to Tunisian companies willing to enter the Russian market will be organised by the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX), on June 13 and 14, in St Petersburg, Russia. This meeting is destined to entrepreneurs active in the food product sectors (confectionery, pasta and food sauces, olive oils, groceries, dried fruits, snacks, juice, Tea, cocoa...), household products (Plastic tableware or olive wood, chemicals…), decorative items, hygiene products, natural-based cosmetic products… CEPEX said on Wednesday. During the two-day event, nearly twenty meetings with the main buyers will be held. They will make it possible for Tunisian leaders to establish direct business contacts with retail chains intended for the supplying supermarkets, restaurants, online sales platforms throughout Russia. The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has received the Business Leader of the Year (Customer Service) award at the Ghana Business League Awards 2024 held in Accra. Tunisia participates in Seafood Expo Global 2024 in Barcelona

Tunisia is participating in the Seafood Expo Global 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. The three-day event which got underway on Wednesday is an opportunity for Tunisian exhibitors to put a wide range of fisehery products under spotlight and keep abreast of technological advances in production, processing and marketing. The Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency is organising this participation. The fair is attended by over 1,550 exhibitors from 80 countries. The annual number of visitors from across the globe stands at about 30,000. The Tunisian stand extends over 2,200 m2. Fresh, frozen and canned seafood as well as aquaculture products are displayed by six companies. Average national production over the last five years amounted to nearly 130,000 tonnes. Private investments in fisheries and aquaculture totalled TND 67 million (TND 40 million for the sector of fisheries and TND 27 million for aquaculture) . Hydrocarbon exploitation concession ‘Sidi El Kilani’ established for benefit of ETAP (JORT)

Tunis: A hydrocarbon exploitation concession under the name «Sidi El Kilani» exploitation concession is established for the benefit of the Tunisian Petroleum Activities Company ( French: ETAP), up to 100%, at the request of the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy of April 3, published on Tuesday in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Tunisia (JORT). Covering an area of 51 square kilometers, the «Sidi El Kilani» operating concession is granted over a period of twenty years starting from December 25, 2022. The holder of the exploitation concession is required, during the period of the concession's validity, to fulfill all the contractual obligations provided for in the specific agreement related to the hydrocarbon exploitation concession known as the «Sidi El Kilani»» exploitation concession. The Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) adopted, on February 21, 2023, in plenary, a bill n°2023/53 adopting the agreement related to the hydrocarbon exploitation concession "Sidi El Kilani" ( in the gover norate of Mahdia) and its annexes, signed on February 6, 2023 between the Tunisian State and the Tunisian Petroleum Activities Company (ETAP), with 120 votes for and 2 votes against. The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy decided to continue the exploitation of the concession with ETAP, after its expiry, on December 24, 2022, while trying to boost the national hydrocarbon production. According to economic studies, the net profitability of this concession is estimated at $26.4 million while the volume of extractable production is estimated almost 2.061 million barrels of oil.
