Tunisia and Italy sign partnership agreement in cultural heritage

Tunis: On the occasion of the official visit of the Italian Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, to Tunisia, a partnership agreement was signed on Saturday between the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, represented by Tarek Baccouche, Director General of the National Institute of Heritage, and Lotfi Ndari, Director General of the Agency for Heritage Revival and Cultural Development, and the Italian Ministry of Culture, represented by Alfonsina Russo, Director General of the Colosseum Archaeological Park in Rome. The twinning agreement covers the Colosseum Archaeological Park in Rome and the El Jem Palace in Mahdia, and aims to enhance the value of the two sites and improve tourist access to the cultural and historical heritage that unites the two countries. Moncef Boukthir, acting Minister of Culture, stressed that the civilisation based on the shores of the Mediterranean has reshaped the geopolitical map of the world, so it is necessary to establish greater cooperation in the fields of film and theatre pro duction, literature and festivals, noting that the Italian presence at the El Jem Symphonic Music Festival is an important pillar of its programme. He also called for greater attention to be paid to scientific research in the field of cultural heritage and other areas, as part of a fruitful collaboration for both parties. For his part, the Italian Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, expressed his country's readiness for bilateral cooperation and the pursuit of all possible cultural projects. He stressed the importance of strengthening cultural tourism and considered this agreement as a starting point for other partnerships, in particular the archaeological sites of Kerkouane and Neapolis. Italy wants to establish “solid, fruitful and lasting” cultural relations with Tunisia, says itsCulture Minister

Tunis: Italy's Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, expressed his country's desire to develop fruitful relations with Tunisia in the cultural field when he was received by President Kais Saied at the Carthage Palace on Saturday. Sangiuliano also expressed his country's willingness to share its resources and expertise in the field of museum management to help Tunisia promote its rich heritage in archaeology and museums, he was quoted as saying in a video released by the presidency. Saied affims Tunisia’s willingness to further scale up cultural cooperation with Italy

Tunis: President Kais Saied on Saturday received in Carthage Italy's Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano. Saied affirmed during the meeting, Tunisia's willingness to launch joint initiatives to further scale up cultural cooperation between Tunisia and Italy in the future, such as establishing a Tunisian cultural centre in Italy, fostering partnerships between cultural institutions and structures in the two countries, encouraging scientific research and technological applications in the cultural field, and exchanging students and researchers in all specialties. Saied commended the long-standing civilisational relations binding Tunisia and Italy, underlining that the bilateral relations are broader and more comprehensive than traditional approaches. Besides, he underlined the need to make good use of the two countries' cultural heritage and draw inspiration from the shared history to foster relations between the Tunisian and Italian peoples, recalling in this regard "the successive waves of Italians to T unisia, especially since the 18th century," according to a Presidency of the Republic press release. Sfax-Training-Bosch: First cohort of industrial maintenance technicians

SFAX: A ceremony was held on Friday at the Bach Hamba training and apprenticeship centre in Sfax to award industrial maintenance technician certificates to a group of 31 trainees who have benefited from training designed by the global Bosch group. This is the first class of technicians to undergo this specialised training since February 2022 in the region, each receiving a professional certificate from the industrial giant Bosch. It will enable them to enter the national and international job market, in addition to the diploma issued by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training. The centre's director, Mohamed Abdelmoula, told TAP this training is part of a Tunisian-German cooperation project, adding that 300 young people are currently receiving training in industrial maintenance at the centre. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Employment, the Tunisian Vocational Training Agency, the Bosch group and a team from the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), which i s visiting the Bach Hamba centre as part of a drive to strengthen the exchange of trainers and training programmes. Tunisia attends 50th session of Arab Labour Conference in Iraq

Tunis: Tunisia is taking part in the 50th session of the Arab Labour Conference, held in Iraq from April 27 to May 4, under the chairmanship of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani, Director-General of the International Labour Organisation, Gilbert Houngbo, the Director-General of the Arab Labour Organisation, Fayez Ali Al-Mutairi, and Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit. The Tunisian delegation, led by Yassine Azaza, adviser to the Minister of Social Affairs, included Hayet Ben Ismail, President of the General Committee for Labour and Professional Relations, Feryal Ghorab, Director-General of the Office for International Cooperation and External Relations, and the Head of the Directorate General for Planning, Sinan Safi; Hfaiedh Hfaiedh, Deputy General Secretary of the Tunisian General Labour Union for Legal Affairs; and Khalil Ghariani, Member of the Executive Committee of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts. In his opening remarks, the Direct or-General of the Arab Labour Organisation said that Iraq had succeeded in regaining its international and regional status, in undertaking reconstruction and development and in working to consolidate joint action to establish peace in the region, warning of the impact of the technological revolution on the world of work. He highlighted the unbearable suffering inflicted on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, describing the Zionist aggression as barbaric and a crime against all humanity. Speaking on behalf of Minister of Social Affairs, Malek Ezzahi, Yassine Azaza stressed that the crimes committed against the Palestinian brothers have exceeded all limits and called for an end to this war of annihilation. He reiterated Tunisia's absolute support for Palestine's accession to the UN and its firm condemnation of all those who oppose this accession. He said that the choice by the Director-General of the Arab Labour Organisation of the theme "The Future of Human Resources in the Era of the Technological R evolution" as the subject of his report reflected the interest in the challenges facing human resources in Arab countries in the face of accelerating technological progress. Indeed, the future of human resources is closely linked to the technological revolution and, to some extent, to artificial intelligence and technological transformations, as well as to the need to adapt to technological transformations in order to keep pace with remote work and digital platforms in the economy and to guarantee workers' rights, he said. In this context, he stressed that the digital transition project is a priority in Tunisia because of its role in the development of the national economy and the establishment of the knowledge society and digital sovereignty. In this regard, he pointed out that Tunisia's national digital transformation strategy aims to strengthen the country's position in the use of modern technologies, such as 5G and artificial intelligence, and to create a favourable environment for emerging companies i n the field of future technologies.
