Wiasekrom: Mr. Eric Irigodomo, the Headteacher of Wiasekrom District Assembly Basic School in the Tain District of the Bono Region, has made a public appeal for additional classroom blocks to enhance the educational environment. The school, located in a predominantly farming community, currently operates with only three classroom blocks, compelling many students to attend classes in deteriorating structures.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Irigodomo voiced his concerns during an event where MercyMe Anidaso International, a non-governmental organization, donated teaching and learning materials valued at GHS100,000 to the school. The donation included 1,800 exercise books, various notebooks, 800 pens, pencils, erasers, 100 school bags, and school uniforms.
Mr. Irigodomo acknowledged the efforts of the Tain District Assembly in constructing the existing classroom blocks but emphasized that the facilities are insufficient to accommodate all students from kindergarten through class six. He highlighted the unsuitability of the current structures for effective teaching and learning and urged NGOs and corporate entities to provide support.
Madam Juliet Aba Biney, CEO of MercyMe Anidaso International, stated that the organization is a Christian-child centered development group focused on improving the welfare of vulnerable populations in deprived areas. She applauded the teachers for their dedication despite facing challenges such as inadequate teaching materials and poor classroom conditions. She further appealed to the government and charitable organizations to assist in enhancing the school’s educational facilities.
