National House of Chiefs Extends Congratulations to Ghana’s President-Elect

KUMASI: Members of the National House of Chiefs (NHC) have extended their congratulations to Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the President-elect, following his victory in the December 7, 2024, elections. The chiefs also offered commendations to Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, the Vice President-elect, acknowledging her electoral success. According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued in Kumasi, jointly signed by Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the House, and Mr. Stephen Owusu, Public Relations Officer, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the elections. The statement conveyed warm congratulations to Mr. Mahama for his decisive victory and conveyed best wishes for his forthcoming tenure as the President of Ghana. The statement further commended Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for his timely concession and reconciliatory message. Additionally, the House extended congratulations to all elected Members of Parliament and acknowledged the maturity demon strated by other presidential and parliamentary candidates, which contributed to the peaceful electoral process. The NHC also lauded the efforts of the Electoral Commission (EC), the Peace Council, media, diplomatic community, security agencies, clergy, religious groups, and both domestic and international election observers. Their collective efforts were credited with achieving a fair and generally peaceful election. The chiefs expressed their pride in the contributions of Ghanaians to the peaceful elections, noting that the nation has reaffirmed its democratic credentials as a beacon of hope in Africa. The statement concluded by pledging the support and full cooperation of the chiefs in the administration of the President-elect.
