Avenor: Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, Paramount Chief of Avenor Traditional area and President of the Avenor Traditional Council, has emphasized the importance of economic progress as a prerequisite for better schools, improved healthcare, modern infrastructure, and the preservation of cultural heritage in Avenor.

According to Ghana News Agency, during the launch of this year’s ‘Avenor Tutudoza’ celebration at Wlitey RC Primary School Park, Togbega Dorglo stressed that economic growth generates resources necessary for transforming living conditions. He highlighted the need for Avenor to leverage its industrious people, fertile lands, entrepreneurial spirit, and rich cultural identity to build an economy that creates opportunities and prosperity for all.

This year’s theme, ‘Securing the Future of Avenor through Skills Acquisition, Employment and Economic Growth,’ is both relevant and urgent, as stated by Togbega Dorglo. He called for deliberate investment in building the capacity of the people, particularly the youth, to elevate Avenor in Ghana’s socio-economic landscape.

Togbega Dorglo emphasized that skills acquisition and knowledge are vital for progress. He pointed out that equipping young men and women with employable skills in fields such as agriculture, trades, technology, or entrepreneurship empowers them to create jobs for themselves and others, thereby reducing unemployment and stimulating innovation and productivity, ultimately driving economic growth.

He envisioned a future where Avenor’s youth would create opportunities within their homeland rather than migrating elsewhere. He urged collective efforts to strengthen partnerships between the Traditional Council, local authorities, educational institutions, private investors, and citizens to explore opportunities in agriculture, agro-processing, tourism, small-scale industries, and the digital economy.

Mr. Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive for Akatsi South, representing the government, outlined several policies and projects aimed at bringing prosperity to all, including the youth, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama. Progress has been made in health, education, infrastructure, and economic growth.

The festival launch, attended by dignitaries, political figures, heads of departments and institutions, students, and pupils, showcased planned strategic activities such as a pilgrimage to Datsutagba, fashion show, health walk, youth forum, beauty pageant, sports gala, and musical concert.

Avenor Tutudoza is celebrated by the Chiefs and people of Avenor, inviting all sons and daughters of Avenor and non-indigenes to witness the community’s vibrancy and support efforts in building a better Traditional Area. The event will culminate in a grand durbar on Saturday, November 29, at the Akatsi Central Market lorry station.
