Sekondi-takoradi: The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) organized a clean-up exercise across the metropolis on Saturday as part of the National Sanitation Day. Residents, shop owners, transport operators, and businesses participated in the initiative, focusing on cleaning their frontages to promote a safer and cleaner environment.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Frederick F. Faidoo, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), led the exercise with the aim of ridding the metropolis of filth and desilting choked drains to ensure a healthy environment. Despite the efforts, Mr. Faidoo expressed dissatisfaction with the low participation of residents in the National Sanitation Day activities.
The MCE noted his disappointment with the turnout, observing that commercial activities continued when residents should have focused on cleaning their surroundings. Mr. Faidoo emphasized the importance of full participation in such exercises for the well-being of the community.
Mr. Faidoo also mentioned that the Assembly would develop strategies to ensure greater resident involvement in future editions, highlighting the importance of community engagement for a cleaner metropolis.
