Accra: The Ayawaso Central office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has inaugurated Civic Education Clubs in selected basic schools to promote good citizenship, civic responsibility, discipline, and active participation in national development.

According to Ghana News Agency, the formation of these clubs aims to encourage students to study the 1992 Constitution and deepen their understanding of democracy and nation-building. This initiative aligns with the NCCE’s mandate to promote civic awareness and responsible citizenship among the youth.

The schools involved in this initiative include Redeemer Preparatory School and JHS, Little Roses School, Golden Mission School, New Star Preparatory School, and Daddy’s Pride International. Madam Rhoda Akuetteh, the Municipal Director of the NCCE, expressed gratitude to the schools and students for their interest in forming the clubs. She recognized the platform as an important vehicle for nurturing responsible, law-abiding, and active citizens.

She encouraged students to actively engage in club activities, which are designed to deepen their understanding of civic duties, promote democratic participation, and foster a culture of integrity and discipline. Madam Akuetteh explained that the formation of the clubs serves as a training ground for leadership, promotes constitutional literacy, instills values of patriotism, and strengthens students’ participation in nation-building.

The clubs also serve as a bridge between the Commission and the youth, ensuring that civic values are internalized at an early age. “The formation and inauguration of the clubs across schools marked a significant milestone in the Commission’s efforts to instill civic responsibility in the younger generation,” she stated.

Madam Akuetteh expressed satisfaction at the enthusiasm displayed by the students and the cooperation from the schools, adding that this enthusiasm is a good sign for the sustainability of these clubs. She affirmed the Ayawaso Central NCCE’s commitment to supporting these clubs to thrive and ensure that the ideals of civic responsibility and constitutional democracy continue to flourish among the youth.
