“AFD allocates pound 5 million in grants to strengthen Tunisia’s migration management project” (ONM)

Tunis: The French Development Agency (AFD) will allocate pound 5 million this year in the form of a grant to strengthen Tunisia's migration management project and promote the reintegration of migrants returning to Tunisia, according to the National Observatory for Migration (ONM). In a press release issued Thursday following a meeting between a delegation from the National Observatory for Migration and a delegation from AFD and Expertise France, the ONM said this amount is intended to consolidate previous funding allocated to the same project, which stood at around pound 2 million. According to the same source, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the various areas of cooperation and partnership in the field of migration, in particular solidarity-based development, the economic and social inclusion of migrants wishing to return voluntarily to Tunisia and migration governance. The two delegations reviewed the level of cooperation between Tunisia and France, stressing the importance of supporting t he efforts of public structures through the implementation of innovative projects capable of boosting development. During the meeting, the two parties recalled the framework agreement signed on April 28, 2008 between Tunisia and France on the concerted management of migration and development based on solidarity.
