Shallom: The Seventh Day Theocratic World Congregation has concluded its fourth Elul, 6022 Adult Sabbath Lesson with a strong call on Ghanaians to avoid divorce and remarriage, describing such practices as harmful to families, society, and spiritual heritage.
According to Ghana News Agency, in an interview at the church’s headquarters at Shallom, near Aburi in the Eastern Region, Apostle Dr. Kadmiel E.H. Agbalenyo, Leader of the Congregation, emphasized the far-reaching consequences of divorce and remarriage, both lawful and unlawful. He stated that these practices destroy family structures and impact children negatively.
He explained that many couples mistakenly view divorce and remarriage as solutions to marital issues, which often leads to more complex problems like fragmented homes and challenges in managing blended families. Apostle Agbalenyo highlighted the difficulties children from previous marriages might face, such as tension and emotional neglect, and the challenges faced by step-parents.
Apostle Agbalenyo asserted that marital challenges have spiritual roots and should be addressed through divine guidance and biblical wisdom. He used several scriptural examples to demonstrate how perfection in relationships can be lost through deception and disobedience, emphasizing the sanctity of marriage as upheld by Christ Jesus.
He expressed concern about the misinterpretation of scripture that some men use to justify abuse and abandonment of their wives, highlighting the decline of womanhood’s divinity even within the Theocratic community. He warned against the ease with which some dismiss their spouses and enter new relationships, impacting children and spiritual standing.
Apostle Agbalenyo urged for marital issues to be addressed by spiritually mature leaders or referred to the congregation’s headquarters for resolution. He identified unseen causes of marital breakdowns, such as fornication and jealousy, urging members to reject actions that attract divine judgment.
He concluded by emphasizing that only divine intervention can resolve complex marital issues and encouraged members to report serious marital problems to church authorities promptly, as guided by scripture.
