North Tongu: Madam Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of North Tongu, has appealed to the Volta Region's representative on the Council of State, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, to prioritise investment in agriculture and aquaculture to empower the youth and drive economic growth. The DCE made this appeal during a courtesy visit to Mr Kwamigah-Atokple alongside her fellow Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) from the Volta Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the delegation's visit followed a recently concluded orientation in Accra and symbolised a unified front among local leaders to accelerate the development agenda of the Volta Region. Madam Doe emphasised the urgent need for targeted investments that could unlock employment and economic opportunities, especially for young people in North Tongu and the broader region. 'We need to attract strategic partners, particularly in agriculture and aquaculture, where the potential for sustainable livelihoods is vast but underutilised,' she stated.

The DCE also presented wider development concerns to the Council of State member, highlighting challenges in tourism, infrastructure, and industrialisation. In response, Mr Kwamigah-Atokple acknowledged the historical underdevelopment of the Volta Region and pledged his unwavering commitment to advocate for the region at the highest levels. 'I am deeply moved by the unity and clarity of purpose shown by our district leaders,' he said. 'Rest assured, I will continue engaging with both local and international partners to deliver meaningful progress for our people.'

The visit ended on a note of renewed resolve, with the DCE expressing confidence in the power of collaboration, shared leadership, and strategic partnerships to realise the aspirations of the Volta Region.
