Accra: Mr. John Kwame Adu Jack, the Member of Parliament for the Dormaa Central Constituency, has officially commenced the construction of a three-unit classroom block for the Ahogono Basic School. This development marks a significant step towards addressing the educational infrastructure needs of the community.
According to Ghana News Agency, the decision to construct the Junior High School (JHS) block followed a request from local chiefs and residents during Mr. Jack’s 2016 election campaign tour of the area. At a ceremonial event held in Ahogono, located in the Bono Region, Mr. Jack noted that the community had expressed a pressing need for a JHS block, and he pledged to fulfill this requirement.
The project, which is being executed by Datwu Enterprise, a contractor based in Dormaa-Ahenkro, is scheduled to be completed within 18 months. Mr. Jack emphasized the importance of quality workmanship and warned against substandard construction, stating that the initiative is being funded through his share of the MP’s District Assembly Common Fund. He also encouraged local residents to actively monitor the project’s progress.
Mr. Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, announced that the Assembly plans to construct a mechanised borehole for the school and ensure that students will benefit from the school feeding program. He reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to advancing the area’s development, including improvements to local roads.
Furthermore, Mr. Ameyaw explained that DRIP machines are currently working on the Pamu-Koraso road and will soon be relocated to Ahantrase, Dormaa-Ahenkro, and ultimately to reshape the Ahogono road. The Reverend Kingsley Dwamena Asante, the Dormaa Municipal Director of Education, stressed the significance of education and called upon stakeholders to enhance its quality in the region.
Mr. George Adjei, the Dormaa Central Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, urged teachers to intensify their efforts in improving students’ academic performance. Additionally, Mr. Isaac Oppong, the Assembly Member for the Nsesreso/Ahogono/Benekwaakrom/Sukura Electoral Area, requested the extension of mobile telecommunication networks and access to potable water for the area.
