Accra: The Ghana Energy Awards (GEA) Secretariat has received over 300 nominations ahead of the October 31, 2025, deadline.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Secretariat described the response as ‘overwhelming,’ noting a departure from previous years’ last-minute submissions. “This year has seen a noticeable shift, with a good number of nominations coming in earlier than expected. This reflects stronger engagement and a growing sense of ownership among industry players,” it stated.
Nominations opened on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, inviting entries from individuals, companies, and institutions across the energy value chain. The GEA, now in its ninth year, seeks to recognise excellence, innovation, and leadership within Ghana’s energy sector. This year’s edition is on the theme ‘Repositioning the Energy Sector as a Pillar of National Development.’
It features 26 competitive categories spanning power and petroleum sub-sectors. Newly introduced categories aim to reflect emerging industry trends and broaden participation. The Awards are endorsed by the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, allied agencies, and the World Energy Council – Ghana.
The Secretariat confirmed that site verification visits are currently underway and will continue until November 15, 2025. “These site visits form a crucial component of our verification framework, allowing the Panel to assess nominated projects and initiatives firsthand. This evidence-based approach has become a hallmark of the Awards’ credibility and commitment to transparency,” the statement noted.
Prospective nominees yet to submit entries were reminded to do so before the deadline, as no extensions would be granted.
