Accra: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the reopening of the Embassy of Ghana in Tehran, Iran, following improved security conditions in the country. The Embassy, which was temporarily closed in June this year due to heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, will resume full operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Ministry explained that the temporary closure was a precautionary measure to safeguard the staff of the Mission during the peak of hostilities in the region. With relative calm now restored, conditions had become favourable for the resumption of normal diplomatic activities.
The Ministry stated that it will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that the safety of the staff working in the Embassy and the Ghanaian community in Iran is not compromised. It further assured the public of its continued commitment to the welfare of Ghanaians living in Iran, pledging to provide periodic updates should developments in the region require further action.
The reopening of the Ghanaian Mission in Tehran is expected to restore consular and diplomatic services to Ghanaians in Iran and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
