Accra: The government has inaugurated a new Governing Board for the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) to provide strategic leadership and reposition Ghana as a premier tourism and cultural investment destination. Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, emphasized the board’s critical role in enhancing Ghana’s tourism sector as the country intensifies efforts to diversify its economy through tourism and heritage development.
According to Ghana News Agency, the minister highlighted the importance of the GTDC’s role in implementing the national tourism strategy. She urged the board to drive innovation, attract investment, and promote sustainable tourism initiatives. Madam Gomashie remarked on the challenges ahead, stressing the significance of the leadership provided by the board members for the institution’s success.
She called upon the board members to maintain integrity, diligence, and professionalism while ensuring effective resource management, good governance, and stakeholder collaboration. Mr. Ben Ohene-Ayeh, Chairperson of the Board, expressed gratitude to the Minister and President John Dramani Mahama for the trust placed in them. He pledged the board’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate, promising to work diligently on the terms of reference and meet the assigned timelines.
The board consists of members such as Prof Kobby Mensah, Mr. Angelo Norkplim Agbodzie, Madam Dora Nanahemaa Adjoa Awindor, Madam Nangeh Adjoba Kyiamah, Mr. Zakaria Tanko Musah, Dr. Geoffrey Deladem Tamakloe, Mr. Awudu Lash Jnr. Baguah, and Mr. Atsu G. Klugah. Directors from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, led by Chief Director Mr. Joseph Kwasi Amoah, also attended the inauguration ceremony.
