Accra: Harley Reed, an international professional services firm, in partnership with Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, has organised a free breast cancer screening to promote early detection and prevention.

According to Ghana News Agency, the exercise, held in Adabraka with support from the Oncology Department of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, also aimed to raise awareness, share experiences, and connect participants with breast cancer survivors. October is globally marked as Breast Cancer Awareness Month to promote early detection, support research, and improve treatment outcomes.

Mrs Edith Uyovbukerhi, Country Director of Harley Reed Ghana, expressed that the initiative was driven by the company’s commitment to the well-being of its employees and the wider community. More than 60 people were screened during the programme, which she said reflected Harley Reed’s dedication to care, awareness, and proactive health management.

‘Apart from the screening, our employees were deeply inspired by the powerful story of a breast cancer survivor, which strengthened our resolve to take meaningful action during Breast Cancer Awareness Month,’ she stated. She added that the information sessions encouraged open discussions on breast cancer, helping participants become more informed and active promoters of early detection.

Harley Reed concluded its month-long awareness campaign with donations to selected non-governmental organisations in Ghana, reaffirming its commitment to breast cancer prevention and education.
