He described all aspirants shortlisted for the position as competent, emphasizing that whoever is chosen by the President and endorsed by Assembly Members would work towards the progress of the municipality.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gakpey stated in an interview that the shortlisted candidates have demonstrated a high level of commitment and dedication to the development of the area following a thorough interview by the regional MMDCE vetting committee. "I am a strong advocate for the development of our area and with my background in public health among others and experience I gathered so far in Parliament, I am well-positioned to collaborate with the new MCE to drive growth and improvement in Keta," he said.

The selection process for the new MMDCE is currently underway, with shortlisted candidates from constituencies across the country being vetted by the national committee. One candidate will be selected for the assembly members to endorse as the Municipal or District Chief Executive. Aspirants shortlisted for Keta include Mr. Wisdom Seade, Mr. Emmanuel Kwaku Tay, Mr. Joseph Amekuedi, and Mr. Simon Awadzi.

The final decision will be made by the President following an interview process at the national level. Mr. Gakpey expressed his readiness and commitment to work with anyone chosen to ensure continuity and progress in the Keta constituency. He appealed to President John Dramani Mahama and the national vetting committee to select the best candidate who would serve the interest of the nation over personal interests.

Mr. Gakpey highlighted that the appointment of a new MCE is a significant event for Keta assembly and marks a new chapter for development. He urged the public to support whoever is selected to lead the area. As Keta prepares for the new MCE, residents are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to work with the newly appointed leader, optimistic about the prospects for growth and development.

As the process unfolds, residents and stakeholders are watching closely to see who will be chosen as the next MCE among the four shortlisted candidates. They are assured of cooperation for a productive and successful partnership. With a history of community-driven development initiatives, the Keta constituency looks forward to greater progress with unity and collaboration between the next MCE and the MP.

Residents have also called for an investigation into issues involving reclaimed land and alleged bribery and corruption cases against some assembly members from the previous administration.
