Accra: Revered Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu North, has commissioned a newly constructed hand pump borehole at Dunyokorpe in Afife.

According to Ghana News Agency, the project was sponsored by Meaningful Life, a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving access to safe drinking water across the Municipality.

The borehole is part of the NGO’s commitment to provide five boreholes to selected communities in the Ketu North Municipality. Two have been completed at Afife Dzigbokorpe and Dunyokorpe, while an earlier attempt at Torvi was unsuccessful due to geological challenges. The NGO highlighted the importance of ensuring access to safe and clean drinking water for the community.

Rev. Amenaki, who participated in the commissioning, expressed appreciation to Meaningful Life for their partnership and commitment to improving living standards in rural communities. He noted that the project would bring needed relief to residents, particularly women and children, who often traveled long distances for potable water.

‘Access to clean and safe water is a fundamental human right. This intervention by Meaningful Life is not just a social investment. It is an act of compassion that will directly improve health outcomes, support sanitation, and restore dignity to many households,’ Rev. Amenaki said. He also mentioned that a similar facility was commissioned by the NGO at Afife Dzigbokorpe, highlighting the importance of community-centered initiatives in complementing the government’s Water for All agenda.

Rev. Amenaki encouraged other development partners and organizations to follow Meaningful Life’s example by supporting rural infrastructure projects that address pressing community needs such as water, sanitation, health, and education. The event was attended by traditional leaders, assembly members, officials from the Municipal Assembly, and representatives of Meaningful Life.

Community members expressed gratitude to the NGO and the Assembly for their collaboration, describing the borehole as ‘a life-changing gift.’ Rev. Amenaki reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to sustaining such partnerships, assuring residents that measures would be put in place for the facility’s proper maintenance and management for long-term benefit.
