Chakib Labbessi, professor at the Faculty of Law and Political Science in Tunis, on Sunday, described the recent Zionist attack on Gaza as an international crime that meets all the material, moral and international conditions to be tried before the International Criminal Court as "a crime of genocide in accordance with the provisions of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court". Crimes of genocide are not subject to the statute of limitations and their perpetrators can be prosecuted even after a long period of time and after leaving their positions of responsibility, Labbessi recalled in a statement to TAP at a legal event around the Palestinian cause organised in Ariana on the theme of "the right to land and life". The parties that can file a complaint with the International Criminal Court are the member countries (the Zionist state is not a member country), the United Nations Security Council and the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. In a statement to reporters, Palestinian amb assador to Tunisia, Hael Fahoum, said "the world is witnessing a historic moment marked by the unveiling of the Palestinian right, thanks to the mythical resistance of the Palestinian people against the strategies of slavery adopted by the Zionist state. It raises universal awareness of the deceptive nature of Zionist propaganda and its tendency to demonise the Palestinian," he added. The event was organised by the Ali Balhaouane cultural club in collaboration with the Ariana youth centre.
