Kumasi: Students of the Our Lady of Grace Senior High School (OLAG SHS), through their Student Representative Council (SRC), have successfully renovated the Abrade D/A Primary School building in Afigya Kwabre South District, Ashanti Region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the renovation project, which exceeded a budget of GH? 34,000, was executed in collaboration with OLAG SHS management and supported by parents and well-wishers. The comprehensive renovation involved both external and internal repainting of a five-unit classroom block that includes two storerooms. Additionally, the project addressed the repair of existing furniture and the provision of 15 new desks.
Mr. Francis-Pio Sapaat, the Head Prefect of OLAG, emphasized that the project aimed to create a conducive learning environment for the students at Abrade D/A Primary School. The initiative was intended to offer a quality and equitable educational setting for learners in underserved communities. He reflected on their initial visit to celebrate Mass with the primary school students, which brought to light the dire condition of the classrooms. This realization spurred their determination to propose and execute the renovation project, which was subsequently approved by their school management.
Mr. Sapaat expressed gratitude to the OLAG SHS community, parents, and all stakeholders who played a role in the project's success. He also encouraged the authorities of the primary school to maintain a high standard of upkeep to ensure the longevity of the newly renovated facilities and furniture.
In response, Mr. Richard Nkrumah, the Head Teacher of Abrade D/A Primary School, extended his appreciation to the students, management of OLAG SHS, and other involved parties for their commendable intervention. He pledged that the learners would be nurtured to value community service, mirroring the example set by the students of OLAG SHS.
