Accra: The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has affirmed its determination to uphold the law and ensure that Mr. Ofori-Atta, the prime suspect in five ongoing corruption and corruption-related investigations, is held accountable.

According to Ghana News Agency, the OSP made this declaration in a statement released on Monday, March 17, following a lawsuit filed by the former Minister for Finance. The lawsuit challenges his designation as a wanted person and a fugitive by the OSP.

The statement, signed by Mr. Kissi Adjebeng, the Special Prosecutor, stated, "Mr. Ofori-Atta is mandatorily required to appear in person before the OSP on 2 June 2025." It further cautioned that should Mr. Ofori-Atta fail to attend the OSP on the scheduled date, he would be reinstated on the OSP's list of wanted persons and considered a fugitive from justice. Consequently, the OSP would initiate an Interpol Red Notice and begin extradition proceedings wherever he may be located.

Mr. Ofori-Atta's legal representatives have requested the removal of his name from the OSP's list of wanted persons, assuring his availability for questioning on a specified date. The OSP, "in good faith and on the basis of Mr. Ofori-Atta's assurance," agreed to this request and temporarily removed his name from the list, contingent upon his personal attendance at the OSP on the determined date.
